But new footage has since emerged which reveals a previously unknown witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forensic-architecture.org\/case\/the-killing-of-zak-kostopoulos\/?fbclid=IwAR3yM779WUeXX6Mws0Kohl42TUGDM1yzq1NnxgJytuW382e7t9SnwCRAi_Q#toggle-id-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forensic Architecture<\/a>, a London-based research agency which analyses human rights violations through multimedia, identified \u201cthe man in the yellow t-shirt\u201d after appealing to members of the public to share any video they might have had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zak Kostopoulos case re-opened<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 12 the group submitted a report to the Greek state investigators which led to a re-opening of the murder case. They sent a second report on April 1 identifying 12 cameras near the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis footage, currently in the possession of civilians but apparently ignored by the police, could contain crucial information for the investigation,\u201d FA said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cThis footage could contain crucial information for the investigation.\u201d \u2014Forensic Architecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the weekend police identified and found the witness according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaystarnews.com\/article\/new-cctv-footage-in-murder-of-greek-drag-queen-finds-potential-new-witness\/#gs.565mi3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gay Star News<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man reportedly did not come forward \u201cbecause he had children whom he wanted to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did Zak Kostopoulos die?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kostopoulos died after becoming trapped in a jewellery shop on Gladstonos Street, near Athens\u2019 central Omonia Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a widely-shared video clip, he is seen using a fire extinguisher to break through the shop\u2019s window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As he struggles through the broken glass, the shop\u2019s owner and another man who had been watching from outside appear to kick him repeatedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Onlookers intervened, though some joined in with the attack, before police officers stretchered Kostopoulos from the scene in handcuffs, limp and bloody.
